NEWS - something different 

 

 

 

 

 

We are the young people who go to fairshares. We wrote this newsletter to tell you about the different clubs that go on in Christ Church Youth and Community Centre. We hope you enjoy it!!!!

 

Lifestiles The lifestyles group is for people over the age of 50, the people who go are adults from the community. The people who run this club are leaders called volunteers this means they don’t get paid. This club isn’t on a particular day or time. The activities in this club are crafts, drama, line dancing and trips out. People should go this club because it helps you keep fit and it is also fun, it won’t make you lonely & it will make you very happy.      By Ste Spollen, 12 & Sophie Davis, 11

 

BridgeBridge is a club for physically disabled young people and young people with learning disabilities which is on every Thursday at 6:00 till 8:30. Everyone is allowed to come between the ages of 10-18, also the staff there are very helpful and the workers there are Sarah Holland, Sonny Mitchell, Abi Rich and Stephanie Woodpark. The activities they do are sports, arts and crafts, pool, computers, play station, cookery, and music and they are doing an award called youth challenge.                      By Sean Middleman, 13 & Jake Walton, 12

 

BootlewayThis club starts at 7pm and finishes at 9pm.  It is for young people between the ages of 8 – 19. This club is on of a Monday, Wednesday and a Friday. Activities that take place in this club are sport, art, crafts, games, pool and also lots of awards for activities such as Youth Achievement. Lots of people come to this club because it is a lot of fun and it is on all year round, free of charge. By Michael Spollen, 11

 

 

Duke of Edinburgh The Duke of Edinburgh club is for age 14 (bronze award), 15 (silver award), and 16 (gold award). The kinds of activities are run outside and inside the centre depending on what the activity is, e.g. rock climbing & dance. There are four categories for your award which are physical, skill, community service and expedition. It is on of a daily basis from Monday to Friday, specialised sessions are organised when necessary. FairsharesFairshares is a club for young people in year 7 and up.Fairshares keeps children off the streets.Fairshares is on is from 6.30- 8.00pm every Tuesday nightThe staff at fairshares are really nice and friendly.At fairshares there is lots of fun stuff to do. We do an award called adventure service challenge which has 8 sections. So far we have done camp craft, cookery, service and first aid. My favourite was cookery. Places are limited. AwardsAwards is a club at Christ Church Youth and Community Centre. It is on Monday to Friday and weekends when necessary, 3pm – 5.30pm. Awards can be accessed from 8 years old and over. It runs throughout the year. People should go to this club to try new and challenging activities and to meet new people and friends. The leaders are Kathy and Ste. A lot of activities are run in the club, for example:Sports Leaders Awards,A.S.D.A.N Award,Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and lots more.By going to Awards, it helps gain a recognized qualification, which also helps with future job prospects.By Samantha Norbury, 13

 

After School Club  

After School club is a club for 5-14yrs old who haven't got anything to do after school. The club is on 3-6pm everyday. The club picks up the children from school in a minibus and parents pick the children up from the club at 6 o'clock. The sessions are £3.50 and they do activities like, mega music, crazy computers, amazing art and spectacular sports. Wise-Up is a health promotion project aiming to increase the accessibility of information and advice on healthy living for young people in the Bootle area. This website has been produced by 12 young people aged 10-16 and they all hope that the information presented here will encourage their peers to make healthy choices about exercise, drugs & alcohol, eating and smoking.
